Obviously your not new to the sport, this thread was about someone doing this for the first time, dont think the heat gun is really a first time tool.
We dont judge people on post counts only on how they react to a bit of constructive criticism, by the way response isnt spelt with a c.

Thankyou for your reply, and your explanation is noted, however, in my opinion, i dont think a cheap soldering iron on a box you want to use is a 1st time tool either, you practice this stuff on old circuit boards, with careful use of a heat gun, that is how chips should be removed from circuit boards. A cheap soldering iron will most probably be too hot, and he will destroy the pads.

btw, there is a huge difference between a typo and a spelling mistake

and spelt is spelled, spelled... but enough of the pandantic stuff from me

anyway, it needs to be an atmega card, not a fun card. if it doesnt work, lift the chip and blank if in pure, program with correct netid if in telewest or c+w
