Hi,
Ive had my system set up with disecq 1.2 for a few weeks now and want to try and set it up with usals as i'm having trouble getting signal on some sats. First off, how do i input my lon, on the tm it has 00.0e, do i input my lon of 4:05:03w as 04.0? Also i breifly tried changing to usals yesterday but when i sent the motor to 1w, on the motor it went a few degrees east of 0, is this the correction for true south? Thanks

Hi, you need to enter your longitude and latitude as decimals.
eg for example 4:05W = 4 + 5/60= 4.08333333 , nearest to 1 decimal point = 4.1. Also since you are at 4.1 degrees west, when you chose 1W the motor would move east by about 3 degrees. This is not a correction for true south. It is just the difference approx between your longitude and the sat's longitude. Robbo ![]() |

i always find that once you have it working with usals, go to a weaker sat using usals and tweak for best signal( i use 16 east ), when i do this the rest of the sats end up spot on

Robbo, I have a question! On the TM1500, the 'Position Setting' in the motorised setting menu uses degree settings (e.g.000.0%E) for Lat and Long: does that not mean that the values are to be entered in degrees rather than decimal?

Ok thats the lon sorted out. Thanks
![]() Just to clarify and that i have read all the threads correctly, 1. enter lon/lat 2. send motor to 1 west in usals 3. move whole set up around mount pole to get best signal. tweak dish left/right-up/down slightly to gain max signal. Once i have found thor, i should know roughly where it is as im getting 89% quality with 1.2, just a matter of small tweaking. Is this it then done, with 1.2 i had to go to all sats and save, but does usals find the sats its self? Thanks for your input.

Movving form Diseqc1.2 to USALS will not necessarily improve things. If the arc is not quite right, USALS can't correct for it no more than DiSEqC1.2 can.
DiSEqC1.2 also allows you to make minor adjustments to maximize the signal, with USALS the only way I can found how to do this is to edit the satellite position, for example 26.2E rather than 26E. |

Ok robbo, might give usals a miss then, for now.
I will stick with 1.2 and see what happens. I think my problem is my mount pole keeps moving just off plumb vertical, dont know if its the pebble dashed exterior wall which is moving the t&k's slightly. I keep having to very slightly re-adjust the mount. Dont know if a tiny amount off plumb will cause a problem, im talking fractions. Thanks again

It is best to get the pole spot on, any errors will be magnified the futher east or west you go. |

Hi
I was just adjusting the mount, and the top u bolt holding the mount to the t@k snapped!! It was only a cheap thin one as the ones i got with the t@k's were too narrow to go around the 2" scaffold pole. Just ordered some heavy duty ones from tlc, wont be here until thursday, hope the wind stays off as ive only tapped the top t@k to the pole. Panic!!
