Hi Guys!
Firstly let me say i'm totally new to all this cable stuff so apologies if i ask any stupid questions ![]() My mate gave me a Euro Vox v2 (i think) its this box (pbinfo.co.uk/images/box.jpg), he gave me it because the remote wouldn't work, he said someone had told him to upgrade it to a blue box and get a new remote. I got this remote (pbinfo.co.uk/images/remote.jpg) but it doesn't work, i've read on the forums that faulty sensors are quite common, where can i get a new front panel or new sensor? If i can't fix it i could alternatively make a little ir controller but i still need to sort out the channels, half of the them don't work or are in the wrong place, is it the CDF file that maps the channels to frequencies? Cheers Guys! D. |

Update:
I've just made a null modem cable and used the cable tv junkie blue updater to upgrade the box, it said version 1 detected and it successfully upgraded the box to version 2, i also used the CDF from here: (techwatch.co.uk/forums/26410-newcastle-cdf-file.html) the box boots fine and the channels are all there in the "usual" order rather than the alphabetical order like before i upgraded. The remote still doesn't work and it just says "Searching for signal" and none of the channels work neither does the EPG display anything ![]() Any pointers would be fantastic ![]() D. |

Another Update:
After a lot of searching i have found a CDF file for my town for Jan 08 and all the channels work perfectly! Its just the remote i need to sort now ![]() Does anyone know what the specs on the IR receiver are? I have a TSOP1738 anyone know if that'd work? After looking at the front panel board it looks like the IR receiver has its own set of wires back to the main board so if replacing the front usually fixes the problem then its just the IR receiver that's knackered... Thanks guys! D. |

i had 1 on a max unit and i tried reflowing all the solder joints on the sensor board and it worked for me. worth a try remember and use flux first though or you'll end up with dry joints eveywhere.

Hi Guys..
gadgetfiend: Thanks for the tip, I tried redoing the few joints for the sensor, but it didn't fix it ![]() In the end i broke out the multi meter and figured out how the sensor was wired, its a 5v 38 kHz receiver, i changed it for a TSOP1738 and its working great! I have attached a quick how to for electronics noobs..
![]() Thanks! D. |
