Default sigma surfboard

Hi
me just like everybody else has got totally pi**** off with the speed capping on virginial broadband dropping my connection down to snail pace.
you pay for a service for a specific speed and i'm not getting it,So decided to take action..
just took delivery of a pre-flashed sigma modem..
please point me in the right direction on these points
1) do i need to keep subscribed to broadband or is it best to just have tv package, theory being they wouldnt monitor broadband then????
2) on setting up sigma the fields entered , hfc mac address i think is self explanatory get neighbouring area mac not on same node via dh force
3) "force config file" where do i get this setting? what is it?
4) "force tfct ip" where do iget this setting from? what is it?
5) will my speeds still be capped? and how traceable is this
please! pointers would be greatly appreciated and simple guides
thanks a bunch

Connect to your modem.
http://192.168.100.1:1337/index.html

You should see the sigma page.

Enter cmreg-ntlhm250-bund03.cm in the config changer box and hit change. (This should force your medem to use the 20meg config file)

Change your mac on this page too, save and reboot modem.

Job done.

That is a NTL/C&W config. In some area's it's now not possible to force a config.

You should have a read of the Haynes Guide to Cable Modems
