Hello all, i recently purchased a Eurovox 2008 and need help in order to set up a dual connection for the Eurovx and my broadband.
At present, i have V*rgin broadband and when i got the Eurovox, i simply unplugged the broadband cable that goes into my modem and screwed it to the provided F connector and then into the Eurovox and it worked fine. I havent sorted the channels yet or the confusing +1 time difference but ill get round to that later. I expect my query it is the most common connection set up so im hoping although my question may make a few eyes roll, i will be able to get some help. What i want to do is simply connect both my broadband and Eurovox at the same time from 2 cables so that i can use both at the same time. At present im swapping the modem cable feed inbetween the two when i want to use one or the other and as you can imagine, not the most pleasing set up. I prised open my white NTL box on the wall and inside it has a "VC300 Vocom TV/FM Isolator, 5-1000 MHZ" . as you probably all know, it is a box with 2 connections coming from it (2 holes for wires) one says FM and has nothing coming from it and the other TV which has my broadband cable connected to it which runs to my modem. So as this has 2 connections, would it null the need for a 2 way splitter and i just plug a cable into the FM connection and then into the Eurovox or is it not that easy? I don't even know what type of cable to buy as if i need something like my modem cable, its more sturdy and weighty than your average flimsy Tv extention. So could somebody give me a step by step guide on how to set this up? An idiots guide if you will, where to plug this to that, what equipment to buy, what type, what type of splitter if any and what connectors and how to attach them? Much appreciated. |

You cant get bb or a eurovox to work from the fm outlet on the isolator. You need to buy a good quality splitter similar to that the cable companies use, you can get 1 from lincsat on here have a look at THIS.

Ok...so if i got a 2 way splitter, what would i do with it? Take out the isolator all together and replace it with the 2 way splitter or plug the splitter into the TV connector on the actual isolator?

Ok so we are getting there, slowly but surely!
Step 1- Remove white NTL box case on wall and unscrew modem cable from TV connector on the isolator. Step 2- Connect my 2 way splitter into the TV side of said isolator and connect the modem cable to the splitter and back into the modem. Step 3- Connect my Eurovox by inserting a cable into the other spare connector space on the 2 way splitter and the other end of cable into my F connector which goes in the back of the Eurovox? Have i got the general jist? I contacted the person who sold me the box but it seems like all he knows is how to sell them, he wasnt very explanitory in tech help. So what type of cable would i use to run from the splitter to the Eurovox and what connectors/screws? How would i do that side of things? Many thanks for your assistance so far by the way. |

You could do it yourself with some CT100 and F type connectors, but this kit will do the job for you and at £4 it is quite cheap, eBay.ie: 2 Way Cable TV Splitter KIT NTL Starview Eurovox DBox2 (item 280201795841 end time 22-Feb-08 20:47:38 GMT)

So you think that kit will do the job? Its already ended but if i found something like that, it would be what i needed?
As i will be running the Eurovox through a wall, outside and into a bedroom, i think it might be worth buying a splitter and cable seperate as i will need about 10 metres. What kind of cable if compatible with these boxes? And what connectors do i need for the splitter? Also i noticed on that auction it says the MHZ on the splitter was 2-2400 MHZ, where as mine is 5-1000, will that be an issue? Sorry if all this may seem too basic for some people, but i have no experience of these things and the actualy cable set up in the instructions was pretty much zero. |

A good quality coax like rg6 or ct100 is recommended and the splitter you have is fine as its what the cable co's actually use.

Ok thanks. I will get myself a 10 metre rg6 or ct100 cable asap. I dont actually have a 2 way splitter but your saying i should just get one with 5-1000 MHZ like the isolator i have now or be looking for something broader like 2-2400 which a lot seem to have?
Will i have to cut/fix connectors on the cable and if so what do i need on the splitter end as i have no idea what type is on the curreny modem cable, it looks like a hybrid fusion or some sort.. |

Yes you will have to strip the coax to fit the F Connectors of which you will need 4, cut about 1 foot of coax and fit an f-connector at either side, one end will attach to the tv output on the isolator and the other will be attached to input of splitter either 5-1000mhz or 2-2400mhz will do. Re-attach your modem and prepare and fit f-connectors at both sides of your coax that'll go to your eurovox. You probably will get an rf male connector with your eurovox this will screw onto the f-connector at box side of the coax.
