for a second i thought that i posted it new thread here myself by mistake .....i.e. until i read your post. Sorry for that. actually kerrywez had suggested that forum and i thought that forum might be more closely related to my problem. so what do you think ? is it possible that the SS usb might be bad. can u just put down the bare minimum steps required to get SS USB working ? Thanks in Advance & Sorry once again for the post |

Hopefully someone will come along and give you a hand with the problem.
I've moved the thread to Satellite TV on PC, hopefully that will help. ![]() Can you post up your LNB settings? Also, are you using exactly the same feed that goes to your working box?. It might pay to eliminate any obvious problems.

Here is my setup once again.
Latpop Acer Travelmate SkyStar USB Dish Pointed to Nilesat (with 70-80% signal in my STB) LNB - Universal NO Diseqc or bla bla in DVB Dream - Default Settings - Dish is Nile Sat - Diseqc is disabled - LNB is KU-Universal - Channel Scan = 0 results I just noticed it last night that the signal is hopping from 2%->40%->100%->0% does this indicate something ? |

sbt, do you actually have the skystar drivers actually running?
When you plug the skystar into the usb port, you should get a message that new device found and drivers are being installed. The usual problem is that windoze doesn't find the drivers and just gives up.

the signal strengh is about 40% but the signal quality is all the time 0% when i examine a loop through configuration from my 550d digital receiver and sometimes the signal quality will come to 23% and goes to 0% i think our hardware should be defective but if anyone have any suggestion plz let me know |

I didn't realise you were using a laptop.
It may be a power problem - do you have access to a USB hub with it's own power supply? If you do, try using that. Alternatively, can you try the SS on a desktop PC? Or, unplug all USB appliances from your laptop apart from the SS and try that. You might also want to look at the computer power management settings and set the machine to "always on" and see if that makes a difference. One other possibility (I had a similar issue with a USB-DVB-T unit), try using a USB extension cable to plug the adapter into your laptop - PC's emit all sorts of spurious RF and this may be interfering with your signal. Moving it a short distance away may help. Last edited by RayB : 25-02-08 at 09:28 AM. Reason: added extra possibility |
