to be honest I don't know too much about the usb version of the ss2 as I have the PCI version. I know I had a lot of problems with mine at first but it eventually sorted itself out. If you know anything about Linux you could try it with that at least if you get it working in Linux you know the problem is with the windows software and not the ss2 itself. Just a thought

So I have checked it now on a different laptop with WinXP installed too. I have got the same problem, unfortunatelly.
My next step is to check it on desktop PC with Win 2000 on it. But I don't expect different behaviour.
My last step would really be to install some linux and try it on it.

So I have checked it on a desktop PC with Win 2000 installed on it. The behaviour was the same so I am going to send it back to the seller....

Default Technisat SkyStar USB - No Signal

Back again. Anybody some news?
I am now totally out of ideas. I have the SkyStar replaced 3 times, bought another laptop and tried using it on Ubuntu, but without any success. I have still the same problem. The card is running few minutes from the beginning and then it stops.

There is an option in windoze for power savings to turn off the tuner card. A remote possibility but have you checked the power settings?

Hi SBT, I believe you have installed a satellite dish to view Asian channels. I also want to do the same (in Cheshire). Could you please tell me whether its worth the hassle and also are there any popular channels that I can watch (i.e. ndtv, star, zee, SAB, sony, etc). What sort of equipments do I need to do this? Sorry for asking so many questions but I can't find anywhere to get all the answers.
Best, Bhargav.
