I was in a sea angling club up north, years ago. Had to pack it in, as cod haddock, and other fish got so scarce, it wasnt worth hireing a boat and boatman. All thanks to foreign trawlers, spanish etc coming right in close to shore and taking the lot.

Very true wasp, but what gets me the most is when you hear about a trawler crew being rescued it is always a British trawler, but the crew are Spanish, flagged boats, it should not be allowed, when our own trawlermen are lossing their quotas. They should have listened to the experts and stopped it long ago. I could go on for ever, but it would only get my blood pressure sky high, so I wont.
Very best tregards Wez

i know this has nothing to do with satellite channels(new) but i had a good day saturday at blackmore woods (fishing) brentwood. had 4 carp 2 mirrors and one good size on floated crust. My secret of catching them recently has been useing hairded small bread balls.useing a size 8/10 hook, note this works well in the winter, spring and autumn but not a good idea in the summer in a lake that has other species. Also replace/check the bait every 20 mins as yu may notice somethings had your bait. But going back to fishing programs i find them excellent esp mark hayes ! fishing programs. he does excellent ones on carp fishing in particular but as we all know in the "real world" (get it real !) things are not like that, first they generally go to an super place and someone prebaits ( for tv purposes) the swims they will fish at. they go to the "monument" in warickshire ? and a specialized fishing for exotic species in somerset .(these include golden orfe and golden tench) But still enjoy the programs and learn from them

Lads,
I know that we are heavy into the fishing, but we can't forget that this is a satellite forum, first and foremost, so I think that it is time we put an end to the fishing chat on here. I am sure that you, wasp, would be interested in a forum that I am a member of and one that anyone can join. I am not sure if it is that much against the rules to post the uel of the site, but I shall not post it as live link. Flash you might like to have a look also, never mine the name of it, it is for all types of fishing, but in Ireland only. The link is as follows >>>>>>>>>>> _http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/ You will like it, no harm having a look anyway. Please do not take my comments the wrong way, but this is a satellite forum, so I think we can halt the fishing chat now. I am sure you will understand. Very best regards Wez

There we go - all the fishing posts safely moved into the lounge and you can carry on safe in the knowledge you cant possibly get off topic in this section!

Great fishing there mate. I am not into course fishing, but I do like to watch it on the TV, won't be seeing as much now as the Sly sub has been stopped. I am mostly a sea angler, but have and do fished for salmon and sea trout. It was very good of AS to give us the space for this, I think he deserves a load of thanks for doing it. Very best regards Wez
