Default A Few Questions for a Newbie

First of all, I will explain my circumstances.
I had Telewest Broadband up until November 07, during this period I never subscribed to any other Cable services such as T.V or Phone. My Broadband subscription has now been cancelled.
Now the other day, much to my surprise I hooked a friends Pace cable box to the service point and hey presto all the channels he was paying I could receive. I am presuming the cable T.V is therefore still live. Now the questions.......

If I was to buy a Eurovox/Starview/D-Box receiver would I be able to receive all the channels, even though I dont subscribe to any of the cable services?
If yes, would there be any chance of my service being cut-off?
Which box would you guys recommend?
And any further information you guys think would be useful, I would appreciate. Please bear in mind I have never had cable T.V before, so I am a relative newbie when it comes to this subject.
Thanks in advance.

by the sounds of things your feed is still live so yes if you buy a box it will work. also beaware that virgin could cut you off at any time which is why it is always best to subscribe to either there minimum tv package or their broadband.

Also be aware that if everyone connected their box to the cable without a subscription Virgin may go down the route of becoming bankrupt. Remember OnDigital and what happened to them. A lot of people cracked their cards and cancelled their subscriptions. In the end everyone lost out.

I would also recommend either a basic TV subscription or Broadband, maybe get the basic TV sub for your bedroom. A box would work as your feed is live.

Virgin Media

BB is only £10 a month stand alone.

A eurovox will work with either TV or BB feeds on stand alone packages, but not Phone only.
