Hi fred,
I do not have a multifeed myself, but as far as I know, the middle LNB is set to the satellite tht would be in the middle of the three that you want to receive. In your case I think that you want to receive 28.2 E, 19.2E and 13 E (Astra2 Astra1 ans Hotbird), so you would have the middle LNB "focused" on Astra1 19.2 E. To do that I would expect that you would have the LNB just about straight on with the face of the dish. You will then need to find Astra1, by moving the dish to get a signal from that bird. When you have tweaked the dish on Astra1 you would need to fiddle with the other two LNBs to obtain a good signal from them.

As I said I do not have a mulitfeed, nor have I ever installed one, but as far as I am aware that is the way it is done. I feel that robbo or AS would be better fixed to advise you on the subject.

Very best regards Wez

Hi, Wez has pretty much got it right.

It is not always the middle satellite, sometimes it is best to use one of the end ones. It is primarily down to signal levels. You put the LNB for the weakest satellite at the focus.

In your case I think Astra (19E) and Astra(28E 2D) will be roughly about the same, with hotbird stronger. So I would try as Wez suggested with 19.2E at the centre.

If looking at the dish face, the LNB for Hotbird should be on the right and a bit lower than 19.2E, the LNB for 28E should be on the left but higher.
Also remember to adjust the LNB skews as well.

I think the bracket would have degree markings on it so you have a starting position for each LNB.

I don't have a multibracket myself, but have experimented quite a bit with homemade parts, and found that if you duck down low, you can adjust the positions of the LNBs without ones fat head in the way and monitor the signal quality at the same time.

Edit, so put the centre LNB on, adjust the dish for that, then put each side one on, and adjust the LNB positions to get the other two.

Thanks robbo, I could not spell skew so left that bit out, or reflection should just have had a bash at the spelling and told fred anyway.

Hi Wez / Robbo ,

All of what you say makes sense and I suppose what is reaslly needed now is a little patients.

Robbo , the bracket does not allow the LNB's to be angled , I can have the righthand LNB a little lower so the left LNB will be naturally higher. If I am taking the skew of the LNB thats already inplace would that mean the skew for the other 2 should be ??????????? ok.
I can also slide the LNB's along the bracket ie: slide them closer to my already inplace LNB or slide them away from it.

Gentlemen thanks for your time and advice.

Fred.

Fred.
That's right, you don't need to angle the LNBS, just slide them along the bracket. By sliding them along you will be changing their angle from the dish focus, and thus which satellite that they will pick up.

The Skew for each LNB needs to be adjusted separately. Satellite Dish Pointer / Alignment Calculator with Google Maps will give you the figures.

But basically for satellites east of your location you twist the LNB clockwise a bit ( whilst looking at the dish face), vice versa for west.

All three satellites are east of you, the 28E LNB with have the biggest SKEW as its the furthest east.
