Default nero problem

Hi all iv been useing Nero for a few years now with no probs at all. Over the last few week iv been burning some dvds for friends who tell me that after about 10 mins the film turns off. This has happened about 6 times now. So yesterday i watched nero burning a film(no problem) got the screen up at the end burn process completed would you like to save a log file. Got the disc after it burned the film looked at the back and noticed that it has not burned much onto the disc. Put it in the dvd player 10 mins later its switched off. Iv never had a problem with it before and now when i load nero up i get Hardware acceleration is deactivated. Some capture devices may not work properly you can activate hardware acceleration useing the DIRECT X DIAGNOSTIC TOOL. Ok so i now have spent 2 days trying to activate hardware acceleration.(it tells me in the menu on direct x its not possible) so If still not been able to activate it. Could this be the problem or is my burner on its way out. Iv never had this hardware acceleration box pop up for the last 4 years.

have now deleted nero and reinstalled nero 7 cant use 8

oh im useing vista

thanks for you time

Which disks are you using?
Have you got the writing speed set to maximum, as some makes of disks aren't good enough for top speed.
Try altering the writing speed to 2x, if the disk then plays back correctly try 4x, if it doesn't try 1x.
If it still doesn't work try a different make of disk.
If there is still a problem you could try a DVD cleaner.
Then you can check the hardware, check for any firmware upgrades for your DVD writer, and check the cable, try another EIDE cable, preferably so it is not sharing a connection on the set up. I assume it's EIDE and not SATA.
A new, good, DVD writer is only around £20, so it's not a major problem if it needs replacing, and if it is quite old it might be worth replacing anyway.

i use nero too as my main burning tool but sometimes for unknown reasons lets me down not very often though!

as a backup i use convertxtodvd very good program very simple to use i also use this when i am doing a series or something similar with menus as it looks better.

it encodes and compressess files to dvd5 just as nero does give it a try

if it doesnt work you know its the drive like the post said earlier its only £20-£30 fitted for new drive

by the way is your signal ok with your upstairs box

your writer could still be on the way out

do all your dvds not burn properly or just some?

have you recently changed your disks?

try convertxttodvd by vso to burn a dvd if this fails its your burner if it copys ok the problems with nero

if its nero you will probably need a full removal of nero with remove nero tool after that use a registry cleaner then go into regedit and remove any left over nero scraps reboot then try to reinstall this should of cleared every last trace
