Default Help, channels vanishing!!!

I recently bought a TM 5200 USB which showed so many more channels than my previous box, but now one by one (or in batches) channels are going away... I have no idea how to update, can anyone help me? What patch do I need, and what about softcams, do I need them too, or is it an either or scenario? Also, if there is an idiot's guide to doing the update via usb stick I'd be very happy!

Do you update your software on regular basis?
The latest patch for your box should be dated 21/02 Can find all the Patches /softcams on alsat website. Have a read on this forum how to do it (Patch) or read the stickies there (Alsat). Please take time to look in here first:http://www.techwatch.co.uk/forums/technomate.html

Thanks Roadrunner, no I haven't updated it since I bought it, for the simple reason I don't know what I'm doing...! I guess what I'm asking is this (from my limited knowledge)
1. Do I need to update a softcam first/last, or not at all?
2. Do I just need to update the patch?
3. How do I do either of the above using the USB connection?

Sorry to be a newb but this seems complicated (as does everything until you've done it!)

Starting with the second question first: Yes you need to keep your patches up to date and yes you do this first.
For the softcam, yes its nice to have the current softcam installed because some packages are autoupdating but some channels from other providers do not (whenever the keys change the new softcam contains them all and it saves you time , if you didn`t install the softcam you would have to manually punch them in) As for the USB you do both (patch/softcam) the same way: download the software from ALsat to your computer, unzip to your USB stick plug your stick to the receiver press the green button on your remote (that`ll take you to the USB menu scroll down to Data Transfer press OK . Then you`ll see the FIle List , select the patch file and press OK .same for the softcam.
All the software can be found on the alsat page .
Regards

Make sure you download the correct PAtch for your receiver and correct softcam (TM one)

Just for the record the new patch is dated 29/02/08 (Today) and so is the softcam

OK, just been perusing alsat, think I found what was needed. Another q: will that patch/softcam unlock all sat channels? I saw that alsat has a patch for Premiere, and then others, so do I need to install each one or will the one file contain them all?
Still learning! Appreciate the support,

Neo

You can only have one patch and one softcam loaded at once, and it will open what is currently open. It certainly will not open all satellite channels.

If you peruse the other site further, you will find a list of the packages that are currently open.

Thanks all, I checked on the sat box last night and it says in one of the menus that Premiere is autoupdating.... but it certainly isn't open, just like Polsat and others. Any thoughts? Also, it seems that certain cams are refreshed by clicking on certain channels and waiting... am I right? What are the channels for each cam/card (or whatever they're called)?

Still learning!

Neo

Edit: another question then, if I can only have one patch/softcam in at one time, how do I know which one to go for? Are the patches/cams listed with what channels they open?
