Unhappy Satellite TV on the move

Last summer we spent some time travelling around europe, we have a Sky box and a 85cm dish. We managed to lock on to Astra 2A ok until we got into Northern Spain after which we got nothing. I knew that the further south we went the less likely we were to get a signal without an even bigger dish but I thought that I would have got something until about half way down Spain.

I know that there is a north beam and a south beam - did I have to do something to my Sky box to tune into the south beam?

The sky digibox default is to trying to load its epg data off one of the north beam frequencies. If it gets too weak you wont be available to load the epg stream & the box stops working. The workaround is to manually tune the box to a south beam frequency. Details here:

Follow the link for sky halfway down the page.

You will have to repeat this every time the digibox is switched off - and if the box gets enough signal of the north beam for any reason!
