Hello,
I did a little research about subtitles in digital satellite streams and found it to be a difficult topic, very little information is available... I posted two messages to two different forums (one here, the TM9100 section) and both got no replies... Then I read somewhere that some receivers (a Topfield in that case) seem to handle subtitles better than others, and I'd like to know more... Does anyone know of some kind of comparison site for satellite equipment, and specifically receivers? TIA |

Firstly, have you updated your TM9100,with the latest update from the Technomate website,to see whether that fixes your subtitle problem?
Secondly, you could check the channels(you dont mention which),to see if they are actually transmitting subtitles(DVB),on King of Sat ,check the TXT column of the specific channels,of a particular satellite. Don't forget, many channels still have analogue subtitles via the teletext service. Page 888,for UK channels. Page 777,889,for many of the mainland European channels. You can check the teletext pages, for the specific channel,to find the exact subtitle page. I can tell you about the Topfield receivers,in that they,by default have analogue subtitles set to ON. If DVB subtitles, are available as well, you select them from the subtitle menu. Pic below shows analogue subtitles on a Topfield4000 PVR. Last edited by SAT-WORLD; 02-03-08 at 03:49 PM. |

Thanks for your reply, SAT-WORLD.
I'm using the EDG 3.2 image, which I think it's based on 0.1.1 and so it should be up to date... I checked the King of Sat site: Fox Crime has a number in the TXT column. I take that to mean they transmit subtitles, but what is that number? I think the TM9100 uses something called tutxt - I'll have a look to see if I can find more info about it... I'll also try the teletext. Thanks! |
