the whole point of ebay is like a boot sale online. it was never intended to be used by business companies and if it is they should not add vat ! There is a different section for business companies anyway. also there are arguments that ebay charge sellers too much ? hence why a lot of business sellers use the normal service of auctions. i believe that the whole thing has got out of proportion to what was intended. ebay needs competition !!! VAT is charged and was introduced to pay for our membership to the EEC think it was7%. I remember that day very well (i voted no) prices just ballooned overnight especially on second hand items.
Before that we had surtax ! i believe it was called. ???? there was always a tax on goods bought in shops. but not at 7% ? Personally i would like to see us getting out of that organisation. it has cost us dear ! But back to ebay ! online auctions are a great idea of buying and selling for the average man in the street. It gives people the chance of selling your unloved posesstions (shame yu cant sell ex wives and bosses yu dont like )but being serious for a minute . Withits question marks of operation and vat etc its a great way of selling and buying.
