Ok mate I'll hang on until they solve it of rthe box, I only bought this back in november and when I checked the version it has this:
The Box
API Ver 4.51e_E
Boot Ver 7.00
9 jul 2007.

Does anyone know if that means its a clone or not.

By the way one last question, I have got a pretty new PC and there is no serial connection is there another way to connect up my box up when needs be ?

If you bought it back then you will be fine. You need a null modem cable and a USB to serial adapter or pci card. Ask Lincsat as I am sure he has some.

I have some USB to Serial adapters, but be aware that some people have problems installing the drivers, especially in Vista

u need a null modem cable that goes into a serial port on ur pc and the other end to ur rs232 port on ur starview, then using software GTrom open that up select correct com port usually com port 1, click on bin file load in the 257ee, turn the starview on and hit download, dont turn off until u see message telling u it was successfull, all downloads should be in downloads.

Yep, go on ebay and get a cheap crappy laptop just for flashing your box! Don't need wireless, don't need any sort of sized hard disk, don't even need a colour screen
