eurovox max fault

I have a eurovox max box which I bought in september 2007 have had no problems until now.when I put the box on standby the display disappeared apart from the two green time dots that seperate the time (hours & minutes) the box would not turn back on but when left for a while decided to start working again it has been doing this since but now it will not turn on at all
tried voxer via null modem and it can't find the box
is it a capacitor fault or does it need jtaging
which capacitor should i look for on a max v (cant see any burnt signs or swelling)
is there any way of testing it with a multimeter as i have one

if its a max-v then its unlikely its the capacitor so i would say it needs jtagging.

update !!!
i have just tried the power circuit board from the frozen max v in a friends blue box and it worked ok so can't be a capacitor fault so must need jtaging
where's the cheapest place to get a eurovox max v jtag kit from people

try HERE m8 dont know if its the cheapest but its certainly the easiest and the best.

thanks for the offer but bought one from ebay before your reply

do you use the same 2008tsop .bin file as used on clones to flash a real 2008 max v as unable to find any via google

yes if its a black max v then use the black tsop file.

all the tutorials i can find refer to an intel chip where mine has a st omega chip
do you jtag them the same way using the same settings and choices in jkeys programme

No need for jkeys on the st chip just use skymax much easier.
