Its been a while and a lot of water has passed under the bridge since the management teams from both Sky and Virgin Media have sat down and talked about the problems that has seen all of the Virgin Media subscribers lose the Sky basic channels, like Sky One, Sky News and Sky Sports News, [...]

It has now been such a long time since Sly removed these channels from Virgin Media, that personally I could care less if they come back or not. I imagine a lot of former Sly One junkies have now found alternative programmes/channels to watch.

yes you can have your channels back but you must use a different encryption method or tweak n1

I should think that if there was to be any suggestion , from Sly, that there should be an encryption change, then it would be very firmly pointed out that the change should be to NDS. It will not make any difference to me, but I just hate to see Sly forcing other providers to do as they say.

Very best regards Wez

I can't imagine Virgin giving in to Sly and changing their encryption on their say so. They didn't give in to Sly's bullying tactics before, so why should they now.

There are plenty of other secure encryption methods to choose from, anything has got to be better than Nag 1.

i thought it was because virgin wasn't prepared to pay what sky was asking for carrying the channels on the cable service

Yes, because they were asking a stupid amount as I recall, far more than what they were paying before, and far more than Sky paid Virgin for its channels. Sky thought the threat of Virgin's customers leaving would be enough to make Virgin bowl over, but they didn't, they just gave everyone who asked to cancel really cheap deals instead (myself included), and brought out Virgin One.

When I had Sky, the only channel I really watched on it was Sky One. Mainly for Star Trek and Lost and a few others. I changed to cable about 2 weeks before the wrangle started, I was well miffed. I really did miss Sky One to start with. But thanks to the disagreement I got into this ere sat hobby, and have never looked back. If the Sky channels return I won't watch them, it's too late.

I don't watch sports myself, but I imagine having Setanta Sports included is quite a pull for sports fans.

I should think that there would be quite a few who would be very happy to have the Setanta Sports from Virgin. I never watched Sly 1 at any time, too much USA sh*t on it.

I have not had any good offer from Sly yet, just a letter telling me that I can rejoin them anytime I like. It will take some offer to get me back to them. I could not believe the crap that they have on Sly Sports, not much that I would call good, let alone great.

As for the UK channels, they are all repeats of BBC, CH4 and ITV shows. The docu channels keep putting shows on that were on another docu channel, but they change the name a wee bit and tell you it is a new show. If I were to be away from Sly for two years and went back to them there would still be the same shows on it.

If it were possible for me to get Virgin I would give it a try, at least my money would not be going to that hateful family, The Murdocks.
