Default Re: AOL to offer free broadband

Uhm ......AOL and decent don't really go together. Two friends on AOL have suffered a lot of problems due to AOL being able to provide a consistent service.

With the AOL announcement that they are stopping their browser software in favour of firefox things may improve.

About 6 moths ago one of the friends change their laptop which included a wireless network card and operated using Vista. The system would not work wirelessly with the AOL wireless modem. AOL refused to help resolve the problem other than to insist on the friend buying a new wireless modem from them, and signing a new 12 month contract. AOL insisted that the problem was caused by Vista, even though my friend could connect to other wireless networks in the vicinity.

Both friends find that they get frequent disconnections and freezes.

Anyone paying out nearly £50 for a 'free' contract free broadband will probably find that they have chucked £50 down the drain.
