Help I would like to receive satellite tv - Page 3 - Techwatch: Satellite TV forums, FTA, Cable, Hardware, & Tech forums

I have only tried 3 LNBs and out of those I found the Inverto Silvertech to be the best. But others will no doubt find other LNBs better for them.

I assume the motorised dish is NOT for the sky box.

Yes the motorized dish is for the sky box plus.
Dont tell me that the sky boxes dont support motors.

Correct.

Sky boxes don't support motors.

Also they don't work too well attached to a dish that is motorised by another receiver.

ok, i have bought the pace TDS470N and according to the pace website it is compatable with diseqc 1.2.
Pace TDS470N - Pace Micro Technology

Please could you confim what i think as i could be making a expensive mistake.
This is so difficult when i dont know what im doing.

The box is capable of Diseqc 1.2, but it is not available in the software that Sky put onto it apparently. So basically Sky have nobbled it, like the rest of their receivers.

Hi, I cannot think why a Sly box would need to have diseqc1.2, they are only for Sly and are no good for anything else. You can use the other channels for non Sly channels, but you are limited to about 40/50 of them. A Sly box can only have a symbol rate of 27500 and 22000, so it is of limited use for other satellites, most of which use loads of different rates.

I am sorry but you have a box that is of limited use for sats other than Astra2.

Dont worry to much, i havnt brought the motor yet and I only really wanted to receive the sky channels.
It was only for ease of installation that i was going to use a motor.
Is there no way to flash the pace software?

There isn't a way that i am aware of

The likelyhood is that if you could change the software on the box it would become useless for receiving Sky

I would leave well alone if i were you

am i right in thinking that,i currently have a eurovox for cable, so i should stick to that, or are there any benefits from getting a satalite?
