THere's a section in here that gives a comprahensive guide to motorising on the forum, I tried setting up a motor but so far have failed but one thing you must do is get the pole perfectly vertical and if its in the ground the weight of the motor and dish may pull the pole forward so a brace of some kind may be needed. Good luck, and this forum is good for advice.

Hi wazza,
I am a bit confused by your statement, "oh ye i will be puttin it up on a pole in the back as theres 2 many trees in front of my house." You need to realize that the trees might not be in the way, unless they are very high. If you are going to put the dish on a pole in the back garden, I would have thought that the house would present a much bigger problem. You will need to have the pole long enough to clear the roof, I should have thought that it would have been simpler to put the pole in the front of the house. You may well be going to put your pole well down the back garden to clear the house, but if you put it too far away from the house you might well suffer a loss of signal. If your pole is going to be very long it should be filled with concrete to firm it up and help stop it swaying too much. Just some thoughts that you might be well advised to consider before you errect your pole at the back of the house. A dish is not like an aerial, it is of no benefit to have it high up, it is rather a disadvantage to have it high up, when it comes to adjusting it, as you might well have to after high winds. Very best regards Wez

Hi, just follow STICK's guide and you won't go far wrong.
How to install a DiSEqC motor the right way As caravan says, get the pole perfectly vertical. and choose a position that gives you a good view of the southern skies and 30 to 40 degrees at least either side if possible. Good Luck ![]() Robbo |

That is good advise from robbo and caravan.
My questions were because I did not understand what you were intending to do and to let you know that it is not necessary to put a dish up high. Good luck with it, I am sure that you will do ok with it nd you can always get answers here if you do get stuck. Very best regards Wez

In STICK's guide it points you to the planning guide to see if you need planning permission etc. The governments changed the link to:
