All,
I've recently followed the procedures to flash an N*L: Home 100 modem. All the procedures went ok without any errors. I believe I have the correct TFTP address for my area, a valid MAC address and the correct frequency for ex-NTL midlands area (402750000). When I power the modem up it never attachs properly to the internet, when I watch the hyperterminal screen I see the following messages after the initial boot : Changing Freq plan to...............PAL_I_HRC Power...Checking center frequency of 394750000... Power...nothing! Checking center frequency of 402750000... Power...nothing! Checking center frequency of 410750000... Powern..nothing! . Power...nothéng! Checking center frequency of 426750000... Power...nothing! These messages continue counting up and up. I guess theres a possibility the modem is faulty, but it was a known working modem when it was subscribed. Can anyone tell me from experience what might cause it to keep giving these errors? Have I misconfigured something? What is the most common cause of it complaining about the center frequency? Thanks |

On my firmware i have to enter the first 6 digits of it, so in my case the frequency is 402750000 so I entered 402750.
I can try it again, but when i watch the boot I can see it set at 402750 already. I live in the midlands and it was previously an N*L area before Virgin took over. I still have a sub'd N*L:120 modem so I opened it up and connected the RS232 cable to it, but I can't get any meaningful information on hyperterminal. It just shows junk text, when using the same settings 115200, 8, n , 1, n. I also tried different baud speeds, but couldn't get anything on the display. I'll try setting the freq again as you advised |

I tried entering the freq again and no success. I've dumped out the startup log to a text file but removed the MAC entries for obvious reasons. Can anyone see whats wrong here?
