Default Newbie questions probably been asked before. Sorry need some advise!!

Hi guys,

Have spent some tome reading throught the forums and found the info very helpful, however just wanted to ask for some advice. Sorry there is so many questions but just wanted to do it all in one go.

I am currentley paying VM £33.45 a month for Medium telephone,XL TV and Medium Broadband. I wanted to pay about £100 and there is a local guy listing the Euro vox max 2008 v on ebay who lives locally for £100 (apparentley they are new) and I can pick one up.

Obviousley now comes the questions:

1) Is this a good box to buy? (believe it is from the forum but just wanted to check)

2) Is there an easy way to tell if it is a clone?

3) When seitting up do you just disconnect the VM box and replace it with the Euro vox or do you still need to have it connected?

4) Could I then use the original VM box or another Euro vox in another room as we used to have it in there and the wire is still in that room?

5) If I cancel my XL tv package and but keep the phone and BB through VM and get the basic TV package for free, then will the Euro vox still work?

6) Any finally what channels will I get with it and will it ever need to haev software down loaded to keep it working, have heard of viewing cards that only work for so long, however I may be showing my age now and may not be relevant.

To anybody who has read this far, thank you and thank you for any help or guidence you can offer.

Keep up the good work.

Paul.

1; Eurovox is a very decent box if all you want is freetv.

2; Not without seeing it but what is the name of the ebay seller ?

3; you can just replace the existing box with the eurovox but its best if the legit 1 remains connected.

4; yes you can and this solves question 3 if the feed to the other room is still active.

5; yes.

6; you get all the package channels the cable co broadcast. You may need firmware updates from time to time to keep it up to date but they are simple to do. The box is the same as everything else you pay your money and take your chances but they do come with a 1 year warranty, but that doesnt cover the cable co shutting them down...lol.

yep 2 sellers i'd recommend, lincsat on here or awsatellites both offer excellent after sales support to their customers, a tad more expensive than the 1 your looking at. Incidently the eurovox max-v featured in ebay ad is either a clone or the first generation eurovox max-v box. So seek some clarification first if your considering it. ask if it supports kuro firmware and does it offer 16:9 widescreen....
