Default Re: Badr MBC

I am currently using a 85cm Faval dish with 0.2db Faval LNB on a Diseqc motor. So far I have managed to pull in Badr (incl Al Jazeera Sport) with some fine tuning of the motor, but the MBC channels are still not coming in. Am I expecting too much here? At certain times of the morning I seem to be able to lock on to the signal, but the picture breaks up considerably. My location is Brighton.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I could get them on my 90cm Fortec Star dish in Kent,so I don't you are way too far off the mark, since you are further south. It also depends on dish quality.

You could try flexing the dish a little when on 26E to ensure that you have the alignment optimized, it has to be spot on, because the frequencies from 28E interfere with the signal otherwise.

Thanks for the super-quick reply robbo. I will try out your advice once I work through this mountain of work I have to get through and then I will report back. Interestingly, I have heard people rave about the Smart Titanium 0.2db LNB, with a few people claiming that this LNB made the difference between receiving the MBC and not receiving it. Can an LNB make that significant a difference?

Cheers,

Stephen.

It doesn't have to make a significant amount of difference, just enough to get a lock.

I originally had a Forec Star 0.6dB LNB on my Fortec star 90cm dish and I could not get the MBC channels. I then stuck on an Inverto Silvertech 0.2dB and through they came. They were right on the limit though, any rain and I lost them. With the Smart Titanium I couldn't get a lock.

A little tweaking of the LNB (pushed towards the dish) and I have noticed an improvement on 11843 H and a stronger signal strength and quality on other satellites. The SkyStar 2 is reporting a fluctuating SNR of 2.0 or 0.6 and I am get a lock sporadically. Nothing on MBC though yet. Time to buy some LNBs and have a little test, I will try the Silvertech and Titanium, but are there any other recommendations for fringe reception?

Cheers.
Stephen.

sharp lnb is good

i've just been over to 26e and had a look fox movies coming in on 11843 h fine but just got a sniff of mbc channels again as the weather is coming clearer

will need the larger dish to keep a lock on mbc channels

thinking of getting a gibertini 1metre dish till i can get a andrews 1.2m for my other setup

MBC was coming in almost fine in the morning, but no luck with Fox Movies yet today. Unfortunately a bigger dish is just not possible for me due to space and it would probably send the neighbours into a rage.

If the inverto doesn't help, I'll get the sharp and the titanium.

Cheers.
