Default Badr MBC

Hi,

I've just finished my second motorised install at my brother in laws house and im a bit puzzled.
Its picking up MBC on Badr 26e at about 70% quality with a 1m orbital on anglesey north wales. Ive looked at the mbc beam footprint and it should have no chance of pulling those channels in.

Could it be from another sat? any ideas? unless ive misunderstood the footprint.

Hi,
I don't know about over in Wales but I can get them on my 90cm dish down in kent, so it is not unreasonable that you would get them OK. So yes they must be the MBC channels on 26E

The only other satellite those channels are on is 7W, we are also way off the footprint for the MBC transponders for those, but I can get those too reasobaly well.

But in Wales 7W on a 1M dish would be more difficult.

its strange the footprint of mbc on arabsat 26e as i have had them on a 90cm dish in west yorkshire with good signal quality until my dish got messed up.

also 7west is possible in wales with a 1.8m dish

The MBC beam seems to be a "figment of the imagination" much like the Astra 2D beam is. Probably more fiction than fact to appease the hollywood companies

I only thought it was strange as i'm only a few miles away from him and I can't pick them up, time for a bit of tweaking over the weekend. I'm installing another one for a mate over the weekend, see if I can pick them up there. Some good stuff on there, albeit with arabic subs.

7&4w are dead in the water up here. Also nothing from astra 3a with a 1m dish.

By the way, just seen the forecast for monday, severe gales, first big test for my dish!!

In south wales for mbc a 1m ASC dish works ok but a 1.2m is needed to allow for rain fade,

Also a 1.8m is needed for eurobird 2 at 25.5east in SE Wales

Where i am in south east wales a 1.8m is ok for nilesat horizontals but in north wales you can just about receive them on a 2.4m and need a 3.7m to allow for rain fade but atlantic bird 4 at 7'w is easy received on a 1.2m

MBC's never a problem on 26e.

It bucketing it down now and I've only lost about 5% quality way above locking level.

Just to add to this when i was talking about MBC and said you need a 1.2m in SE wales to allow for rain fade i was on about MBC via nilesat 7'W

A high quality 79cm prodelin is more the enough for mbc via badr i have installed a few 79cm prodelins for Arabic people around my area for badr and the signal from bardr is blazing in
