Question Is it the receiver????

Good eve and thanks for your help (in advance)

I am in the south of France, Cannes to be precise.

I bought a used Amstrad receiver on ebay, with Sky digital dish, and universal LNB. Set the dish up according to the Astra guide and was pretty happy with the signal I was receiving...BBC would disappear during peak times-generally when something decent was on!

We had bad winds last weekend which blew the dish out of alignment and we lost all signal. That day I extended the coax by about 2 meters to tidy my DIY installation, then went on the roof with my signal meter to get the signal back. I hooked up the signal meter and there was no illumination and/or beep???

I have tried lining up with a compass but all im getting is "No signal is being received"

Today I bought a French Astra 1C, 1E dish and box, but its not getting the channels I would like.....Lots of free euro porn if thats your bag!!

I tested my original LNB and Sky dish with the French box and its working fine- meter beeps and works etc.....porn being received LOL

I suppose I know that all that remains is to replace my original sky box and we should be back to normal...could anyone confirm this and explain what happened in the sequence of events to make the Amstrad box not work?????

Thanks again.....Oh and if anyone is looking for a Optex ORD 9540 dish twin head LNB and receiver I have one at a cheap cheap price.

Sounds like the dish is now pointing at 13E

Realign the dish back to 28E for starters.

Then lets see - that far south you may need to tell the sky sluggibox to look for the south beam epg stream:

Yes, it does just like a dish or a default transponder problem rather than a fault with the receiver.

If the FTA box is capable it might be easier to see if you can get the FTA channels from 28E instead. You would them be able to check what transponders you could and could not get.

Since you already have a dish on possibly hotbird, you could check that sky dodgybox isn't faulty by using the additional channels function and see if you can tune in some of the Hotbird channels ( symbol rates 22000 and 27500 only)

Edit dodgybox*....Sluggibox*... digibox
