Yes, there's a further update and I've found more open than I thought. I accidentally pressed the F1 key and found a sub menu on some Premiere channels of what are presumably pay channels. Then there's the English channels and audio tracks on some Polish channels.

Are there any other tricks or techniques I should know about?
Also, are the sites I mentioned above the best ones to use for utilities and softcam keys etc? Some other satellite sites such as satpimps, satmad and satmoz offer what seem to be similar items.

when you update the softcam the channels will continue to open, if they have the correct keys in them

I was beginning to wonder if the 'softcam' is a compilation of keys. Or is it more than that?
Earlier today I found some new keys for Polsat and reopened many channels, but I don't really have an understanding of how this whole procedure works.
Is there a site or page with a 'tutorial' where it's all explained?

well on the keys in your receiver you will have the list of encryptions seca, nagravision, viaccess and with in them is the channel/tv provider channel idents where you enter the new key to open the channels

for example polsat you will enter the nagravision section and look for the line that is ident 7001 and the new keys will either be the key 00 or 01, so you will enter the new key on the appropriate line.

all the softcam does is update these provider idents with the new key without you having to enter it by remote control as they are written to update whichever line is needed

you can update the softcam files your self using a program called key editor

I'll give a key editor a go.

One problem I'm having at the moment, is after trying a softcam release from one site or another, or even after trying a manual key edit, I get some channels re-open but some close. For example, Polish Polsat channels may re-open but Polish BBC channels close.
Do you have any idea what I might be doing wrong? Or, is there a way to get them all open?

polish bbc channels on hotbird are under the polsat encryption so once you have entered the correct key 00 or key 01 they should open

just check the ident is correct for polsat as it uses 7001 and some receiver 7101

i'll have a look but my dish motor is broken so doesn't work very well

Thanks again Wod, I'm grateful for your help in a subject which, maybe understandably, seems shrouded in mystery.

I didn't seem to have any 007001 keys for Polsat so I tried making two; a 00 ident one and an 01 ident one, and putting the apparently latest string of characters in (currently starting with d5 d5 ?)
No luck, though. Still no BBC Polish channels but fine with the Polish ones.
It seems to make no difference if I try the 'latest' softcam, or one from yesterday, or try to do it manually as mentioned above. I even tried reloading the 'latest' firmware patch (I don't mean the official one) then trying the softcam / key update.

I was, however, watching BBC Entertainment earlier this evening and I _think_ I also had the Polish channels on then, so I've made something go screwy.
To be honest this is driving me round the twist.
I'll give up for now and stick with just the Polish, because Playboy TV seems to come through with them. By the way I can get the Premiere channels fine including Blue Movies and 'normal' movies via the f1 button.

I'll ask elsewhere for help, but if you can shed any more light or tell me a foolproof simple fix, that'd be great of course.

interesting that you have the rest of the polsat channels open , does eurosport open on 11240v ? as you should get that with the polsat keys

what i would do is backup your channel list with the channel editor program available off the vantage digital website

and then do a factory reset on the receiver and then put the channel list back and upload a softcam file

on the softcam file if you open it with the key editor program the polsat key lines have been near the top on the ones i have used

the bbc channels on polsat was using a different key to decrypt them than the keys used to open the rest of the channels

all is ok now as polsat current key is opening these channels

some times tv providers will change the key used by say a couple of there best channels e.g. films or sport which only an official card could recognise i think , while other channels in the package will decrypt using another key

i think polsat must be turning the encryption to a newer version on some channels to test etc which is bad news for people who watch them this way
