when you mean upgrade software do you mean upgrade the original software or patch the receiver ?

as either of those need different programs to do them

well to update the firmware to latest you need to go to

_http://www.vantage-digital.com/index.php?a=downloads&cat=Receiver&PHPSESSID=6a59a b57c32095b92381204894b125a5

and download the following

Main Firmware 0047AOP

SettingsEditor + UpdateTool V2.3

Install the editor& update tool program on your pc. then once your receiver is connected to the pc by a null modem serial cable.

you unzip the firmware file to your desktop, then open the settings/update program once in there click on the button that says "up", browse to the file on your desktop.

next make sure your receiver is switched off from the back.

click on open, then switch on your receiver from the back. the software will be sent to the receiver.

once that is done the receiver will reboot and go into standby showing the clock.

patching

this needs another program called winup 2.6 to transfer the software to the receiver. this can be found on another site _http://www.vantage.gmc.to/index.php

the latest patch is 00510045AOA

once you have winup 2.6, open the program and click on the second option "upload to receiver"

next it will ask for the location of the file and click open

again make sure the receiver is switched off from the back

now click on start

switch on your receiver from the back and the software will transfer to the receiver, wait til the receiver reboots

then you are done.

Hello including to any people whose names I may recognise from other sites.

My question seems right in line with this topic, which is why I thought I'd post here.
I'm always confused with updating/upgrading/patching because there are bits and pieces on sites here and there and I never really know what to do for the best and exactly how to do it.

I have a new Vantage X221TS CI and think I have found and successfully upgraded to the latest firmware. (using pc to receiver null modem cable)
My receiver says now :-
Main Software Version 00.57A-O
Main Software Build Date: Aug 14 2008 07:17:12
Does that sound right?

As for 'patching', 'softcams' and 'keys', I appreciate I am venturing onto dodgy legal ground here. If anyone is willing and can, please point me to (and explain the principles of) any specific utilities and files, maybe updating and expanding upon that which was discussed earlier above in March. I've already tried a few things without apparent success.
Feel free to email me if you'd prefer. I assume I can't post my address on here, but I am currently allowing email contact in my profile.

Thanks for any help that may be forthcoming,
Lee

Hello again,

It seems I may have got this patching thing working. I saw another topic from Wod where he explained how to do it. I used the files at _http://www.vantage.gmc.to_, namely the Winup26 utility, "20/08 New Vantage Vantage_00570064AOA", and ">Softcam Vantage/ 27-08-08<"
For example, I can see Premiere channels open on Astra1.

Does anyone know who runs that site and if they take 'requests' for opening channels? Registering is disabled over there.

Thanks again,
Lee

PS I am contributing to the 'pay TV industry' a little having bought an adult package, so I don't feel too bad about this.

well channels cant be opened unless there is a hack out there for the channels to be decrypted, this will take time and what we have now is quite alot i think

updating with the softcam files you will open polsat, premiere, digitv, tps and a few other channels via biss codes

i now use my vantage with a diablo cam to get channels on 1west and digitalb
