Default Dbox help

Hi chaps,
Im new to this so stick with me if you can.
I currently have Virgin Cable tv and broadband installed. 6 months ago, I purchased a eurovox and it worked perfectly as I installed a 3 way splitter for it all. A mate of mine recently moved house and he gave me his old sagem dbox 1 and have have installed it in the kitchen.
A lot of the channels are no longer on it (my mate warned me of this) so i have searched this forum to see if there is any way to update the box using my laptop and rs232 cable as it is not a signal problem, just an old box.I have found nothing that seems to be for my type of problem.

I would be thankfull for any help.

Cheers

I'm guessing as it's a sagem it's a D-Box2. You'll need to check if it has 1 or 2 flash chips, you can usually see through the grill on top, but they are usually 1 chip.

When it starts up, can you see on the screen what image it is and the creation date? You may be best updating the image, the easiest way is over Ethernet using a crossover network cable,

You can search for channels by pressing - d-box/service/service scan. On Bouquet select "leave current" for cable provider select Brute Force or UK Cable (if available), On old images set set Fast scan off, on newer images set fast scan on and set your NetID, Default Frequency and Symbol Rate. Now save your settings they start scan.

A fast scan will take a couple of minutes, a slow scan will take a while - let us know how it goes, the next job is getting you an updated image installed

Thanks for that mate. I now have 300 channels on my kitchen tv. No more getting moaned at from the wife for watching any footie .

Just one more question. How do you PIN lock the adult section ?
I have the service settings all set up but could not see an option to do so like I have on the eurovox.

Thanks again.
