offcourse some of astra s channels are in fact free to view anyway. Sounds to me you have bought a sky box without a subscription. yu can buy a card from Sky for £20 that will work on a sky reciever only free to view channels. I dont know exactly how many there are. As far as Astra recievers are concerned (not sky) yu get only the freeto view ones. i think at the last count there are over 200. i keep adding more channels every week. i have about 60 in the adding nonsky channels memory of the reciever. but they dont come up as channel numbers. just as names and numbers. ssome weird some awlfull and some watchable. I am a little bewildred why there are a number of channels that appear several times on different slots. not shure why ! i am sure there is a reason for it..

You can get a card from Sly, as flash said and it will cost you £20. With the card you will receive Ch4 All the Five variants and Sly3, those are what Sly call free to view (FTV), but there are loads of free to air channels (FTA), like all the BBC channels and all the ITV channels, Men and Motors and loads of others. Hope that this will help you with what you can have for free on the Astra2 satellite, some call it the Sly satellite. Anything with a F in the video encryption column is free and anything with Videocrypt in that column will not be viewable, without a Sly subscription, with the exception of the FTV channels that I mentioned above.
