Default Formatting V+ hard drive - error

This morning i realised that the box was no longer displaying "live tv" on the front LCD, and i was unable to access any of the menu's.or use V+. This sort of thing happened with me before and all i done was Format the hard drive, and all then started working.
However, this time when i tried to format the hard drive, the box displays "stop" on the lcd after hdd4 > rFt. In other words, for some reason i cant format the hard drive.
I went into eng. menu and under the HDD page it has 0's under all the sections, like used, free, total.
I do not know what to do now, PLease can someone help. My box has the new firmware, 3.1.xxxx
Thankyou

Have you got a spare connector on your pc, theres usually one, if so remove hard drive and try it on your pc to see if its the problem, you can format it too.

Ok the HDD is all fine now, I took it out of the box, then shook it a bit and installed it back in, Then i was able to format it from the box without getting the stop message.
The only reason why i have had many issues with this box is becuase of the net id, Otherwise it would have been perfect.

I had a similar problem- went from EE-00 to EE-01 and then quit. So took the drive out and reformatted it connected to the laptop. Now the V+ button does not work but i can pause live tv. Also lost all EPG data, guide, home etc. I can view all the channels.

Any idea if i have wiped any important data on the HD?

I've got my JVC 1000w 5.1 hooked up to my V+ and its sounds ok only thing i've found is theres very few programmes broadcast in 5.1 and Nat Geo HD is really quiet so you have to turn it up and then you forget you turned it up so change channel and wake the kids up but as far as i know you defo need the optical cable for the HD channels

yes you need to use the Optical out to a Dolby Digital amp to get 5.1 surround. Or if using HDMI to a suitable amp you can get it that way.
But if you use HDMI to a TV & a Optical lead to an amp you have to change a setting in the V+ audio menu to send the sound through the optical lead & not the HDMI lead.
Hope that sounds clear!
As stated there is not much broadcast in DD on Vir*in anyway.
