Hi there,
This is my first satellite system which makes me think I'm doing something stupid! I bought the portable kit from Maplin which comes with a comag SL65. I've located the Astra28E and ran an auto tune. It found loads of channels including the BBC and ITV channels. Problem is I just get a black screen when I try to view BBC1 or ITV. The other foreign channels work ok. The signal strength is around 70%. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance. Steve |

Hi Dervman,
Welcome to Techwatch ![]() I have a sneaking suspicion I know what the problem is, but to be sure, could you list a few of the other foreign channels you are getting and the frequencies they are on? Robbo ![]() |

I did have the dish rigged upto the bedroom window, I've had to take it down so my wife can go to bed!
I do know I could get BBC World, but I can't tell you the frequency until I connect it back up tomorrow :-) |

I reckon I got the same thoughts you have robbo, he is on the wrong satellite, if he weren't how would he be getting foreign channels. It will be interesting to hear what channels he is getting, then we will know what satellite he is on, for sure.
Very best regards Wez

Hi mate, by the sounds of it you are indeed on Astra, Astra1 not Astre2. Astra1 is at 19.2E and Astra2 is at 28.2E, so you got to move your dish 9 degrees further East to get to the right Astra. I am sure robbo will confirm my thoughts when he answers.
Very best regards Wez

Astra 1 at 19.2E then.
From behind the dish you need to swivel it left by about 10 degrees and down a bit. Robbo ![]() EDIT: Yes Wez, I must type quicker. ![]() and I'm on broadband v your dial-up, shame on me. ![]()

The easiest way to check since your receiver does not have the capability of telling you what satellite it is receiving from is to have a look on LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite.
Also kingofsat has a very useful channel search facilty:- Channel Search - KingOfSat Just type in a few channel names and check the frequencies that correspond with what you're finding them on. |
