Default Technotrend Budget C-1501 & DVB viewer pro

Hi all,
Im in the process in having a media centre built and have just ordered 2 Technotrend budget C-1501 so hopefully I can watch one channel and record another. Am I correct in thinking if I buy DVBviewer pro I still need plugins to watch cable tv? I already subscribe to cable for my tv and broadband (Basic package). I am a complete novice when it comes to computers but hopefully learn along the way. I have some knowledge when it comes to STB`s as im able to write to the card. Any help would be appreciated.
Kind regards, gadgets

Yes to needing plugins (softcam with keys), you will also need a transponder file (.ini file), you can get the frequencies for your area from a dbox etc and make your own transponder file, there are bruteforce transponder files that will get most of the channels. btw you don't need the tv package to get tv on your pc, the bb will do so your line is live!

Hi willin, Thanks for the reply. Is there a tut on how to set up the C-1501 and DVBviewer and to be able to set up to watch cable? Also I realise I only need the broadband to recieve tv but I always believe in giving something back to the cable companies to keep them afloat and not biting the hand off that feeds them.
Ive done many google searches and this site seems to come up trumps with imformation so hopefully I can learn something.
Many thanks again, gadgets

Hi gadgets, no tut that I know, very gracious of you to richie rich, why dont you try with dvbdream first! It's free and the insaan has kindly put a transponder file for it in the downloads if you are in a 6952 area, I'm sure this could be modified if not.

Hope this helps

Hi willin, Thank you for your advice, Im unable to get anything from the downloads due to me being a noobie! My area is gatwick (41020 Telewest) I was going to go down the route of a cam/funcard but have been told my antec fusion case wont have enough slots in the back so I will have to use the softcam method, Im hoping that the channel changing wont be to slow using this method. Im having the media centre made as I dont have a clue about computers!! So any advice would be appreciated in how to set up cable on my computer.
Kind regards, gadgets
