Default Euro Vox with virgin media

Can anyone help please

I have just got a Eurovox Max V 2008 receiver. Now I am with virgin media and my set up is as follows

From the main box outside I have a spliter where one cable goes to the cable box and the other to the modem for Internet.

Now I set the EuroVAx box up and a couple of things.

I did a power scan and what I get is 0001 on the Channel number and when I go to channel manager there are only 11 channels under 0001.

So how come it only picked up 11 channels. I though that I would get over a hundred channels on the scan

I also removed the braodband splitter for peace of mind so as to get the full signal but I only still get 11 channnels all under CH NUM 0001.

Can someone please help.

Also another thing how come the screen is Yellow for these channels???

Is there any chance of Virgin media detecting the fact that I have removed their existing box. Is not then If this Euro box works fine can I then downgrade to the basic channels.

Any help will be much appreciated

Hi m8, this helped me a few days ago set up my box. Follow it to the letter. I'm sure if its wrong someone will shout up.

Eurovox Max setup

PLEASE NOTE : IF YOU ARE USING A SPLITTER IN YOUR SETUP THIS MUST B E REMOVED for the initial POWERSCAN as the box needs to scan from a pure signal- this will ensure all channels being found. – scanning throught a splitter can result in the loss of 50+ channels.
Firstly before you start to scan the box you need to:-

PRESS MENU
GO TO CONFIG
GO TO CLEAR DATA – IF IT ASKSYOU FOR THE PIN PRESS 0000
SELECT – ERASE ALL CHANNELS
Then it will ask you are you sure so press OK
Then wait a few seconds then press EXIT and EXIT again

What you need to do now is a POWERSCAN.
The following is a step by sep method of carrying it out!

Press the MENU button
Go to INSTALLATION and arrow right to USER INSTALLATION
Type in your pin (normally 0000)
Press the YELLOW button for POWERSCAN and change the mode to FULL from Normal by arrowing right to reveal FULL
Now press OK, this will begin the BRUTEFORCE POWERSCAN which can take up to 40 minutes, but it is guaranteed to find every single channel on the network in your area.

Once done the box will switch to a random channel to indicate it has finished !
You will now have around 240 or more channels (in some cases regions can receive up to 330 channels!)
You now need to switch to a non free channel and let the box update the codes – this could take a minute or two, it will indicate on the screen “updating please wait” once finished all channels will now be unlocked.
That’s it you’re all done … HOWEVER …. If you find that you get no channels at all there is a further adjustment you can make to ensure you get the 250 plus channels that your area box will be able to receive and again it’s quite simple to do!

First press MENU
Then go to USER INSTALLATION
Type in your pin (0000)
Press YELLOW button to POWERSCAN
Then change the mode to NORMAL
Then arrow down to the SYMBOL RATE and if its on 6.952 then change it to 6.887 (or vice versa!!)
Then press OK and it will carry out a scan like the powerscan of before.
If after you have tried this and you still are channels short then keep the symbol rate at the new figure but adjust the scan to FULL and try again.

hi there, thanks for the feedback. Infact before posting my request here I had tried exactly everything as you mentioned above as I had got the info from this forum. What consfuses me is how come the 11 channels are all under channel 0001.

out of the 11 channles, 9 are discovery, 1 is CNN & 1 is an Asian channel.

I have tried all of the above but have now lost steam.

any further suggestons?

Also how come the picture is all Yellow is all the channels, are there any other settings to be changed??

Sounds to me that you have done everything right and that you may well have a faulty Eurovox (possibly a tuner problem) the yellow screen could be due to a faulty scart connection perhaps, you should be geting in excess of 200 channels if everything works ok ....if it were me I would give it one more try with the incoming cable feed screwed directly into the back of the Eurovox and do a power scan ...if there is no improvement you should get in touch with who you bought the Eurovox from as it is definetly not working properly ... Virgin can (if they want to) see if your set top box is connected or not because it has a return path to them ...they would probably only bother with this if you reported a problem ...

Thanks all for the feedback

I guess the only want around when you report a problem is to connect back the original box back if for any reaosn an engineer were to visist the property.

Still what remains unanswered is how come I see the 11 channnes under CH 0001. What is the relationship between the two??

I will give powerscan 1 more try (did that about 3 times yesterdat) to see if it make any difference and if not get back in touch with the punter!!!!

The 0001 is the TP, or transponder, it sounds as if you have only picked up 1 TP in your powerscan thus when it searches for channels in the channel installation there is only one transponder to search through. The channels are sent in blocks of TPs that are on different frequencies. Now if you only have the one TP, 11 channels sounds about right..

I would recommend that you find the cdf file for your area and put that on your box and see how you get on. If you haven't got the equipment to do this, do you know someone who lives near you with a eurovox? if so let me know and i will tell you how you can add the TPs manually and hopefully this should sort you out.

I had the same problem as you when I first got the Eurovox. It took me a few days, but after much fiddling with the symbol rate when doing a powerscan I managed to pick up around 200 channels. You've just got to keep at it really, the box isn't at fault. Have a go changing the other settings in the powerscan option screen.
