Default Dish size advice

Hi all, I hope this is the right place to ask this.

I've got a standard s*y minidish pointing at 28E, but also want to be able to pick up 23E. Can I use the minidish for this or do I need one bigger? I'm on the Essex/London border. I appreciate I'll need a seperate LNB and bracket and already have a Diseq switch in place.

Yes, the minidish should pick something up from 23.5E if you swivel the dish round a bit.

However the dish is far too small for sticking another LNB on it.

I think at least a a 60-70cm minimum is required. Although there may be some smaller dishes that can be used.

Hi Ray,
Have you considered putting up a motorised dish, if you did you would receive all the available satellites and countless more channels. There may be a reason why can't or don't want to have a motorised system, but it makes far more sense to go down that road. Just my thoughts on the matter and there are some very cheap motorised systems available these days. I think that southern satellites was offering a very reasonable outfit.

Very best regards Wez

You could even put a motor on the minidish if your'e desperate.

I did, it was OKish for a few satellites.

Thanks for the replies all.

I'd love a motorised dish but local conditions don't allow for it - I can't get anything west of 13E and already have one dish looking at 13+19E. I'll stick with what I have until the summer when I should be moving back to Hampshire, then I'll get a motorised system.
