Hi,

Can you recommend a satellite receiver that I can take to the east coast of Spain and pick up English free channels please?

Hi Keith, welcome to techwatch.

Any digital satellite receiver will do the job.

What is more important is the dish setup, and what size dish you need.

You need a dish suitable for the location you are going to. If you want the BBC & ITV channels in the Costa Blanca area then you are going to need something around 1.8m in diameter as the downlink power of the satellite carrying them is very poor indeed in that particular area.

Any dish can go with any receiver, for all intensive purposes.


A 1.8m dish is reasonably large, for that sized dish you are probably better off getting a local expert to install the dish for you. They will know the techniques needed to get the best signal for you in a fringe reception area such as yours.

Although theres no harm in having a go yourself, but you could end up spending money on dish components that are not optimal for your requirements.
