My friend has recently purchased a chipped Virgin Box which he calls "The Box" but it doesn't take a card. All he had to do is plug it in his virgin Line and everything was unlocked. So now im thinkin of canceling my virgin and investin in one, but before i do i thought i would ask you guys on your views on these "the box" and if i cancel my virgin would the chipped ntl box still work or am i best jst stayin connected with virgin and jst swapping the boxes.
Hi

Well if you cancel subscribtion to vm then how you gonna get signal into your house to work your " The box" which by the way is a starview.

Best to have minimum subscribtion to keep your line live.

ive got virgin BBroad upstairs & i thought if thats still live then my virgin box (the white box they stick on ur wall) would still be live. Plus i thought Virgin would tag on that ive switched my boxes round when they decide to ping the boxes.

Hi

I thought when you said cancelling I thought you meant cancelling altogether but if you keep your broadband then you`l be fine.

Not sure what you mean by pinging box if you get starview they dont have talkback so vm wont know.

Cheers yusuf_gaz. Sorry if this sounds dumb...But i have a virgin white box in my living room & in my bedroom upstairs which my BBand runs off. So when i cancel my TV will the downstairs Virgin white box be dead & the upstairs live?
When i said pinging i meant talkback sorry as my friend has advised my that sometimes virgin like to take down chipped boxes so that they need to be re-scanned.

Hi

No the downstairs will be live so you`l be fine.

All boxes can be knocked off regardless of talkback. Talkback is to stop vm "seeing" your box, so they dont know that you are using a box to watch tv that you are not paying for, if you get a box belonging to cc then talkback will have to be cut but if you get a 3rd party box starview eurovox kryptview and others they dont have talkback so no need to worry but as I said all boxes can be knocked off.
Hope this makes things a bit clearer.

Regards

Probably a cable company owned one.
Does he recieve all the channels free of charge?
If he does, he'l probs have talkback not cut. Which could mean that if he gets found out on Vi**in's servers then they will brick his box. Which could be annoying :\

Yeh he bought it for £80 and all channels & all movies & events on demand are unlocked & im thinkin of investing in one. Because a i know a few people who have had their cards done so everynow and again their cards go down which means they have to have them re-scanned costin a 10er a pop. Which i dont really wana folk out & wait about 2-3days to get it back.
I jst wana know which is the best route Chipped box or Chipped card? as im a novice on this subject but i wana gain more knowledge on the topin )
