Oh, I remember now,

Have you got a more up to date picture? I think we all thought that you had it set up wrong before.

I suppose if you can show that the LNB arm is not at 90 degrees to the dish, then they should swap it for another.

I've fixed that problem.

I took the two mounting bolts off one side of the dish and put two washers in between the dish and the bracket. That pulled the dish around a bit (without distorting it) so now the LNB arm and the dish are square with eachother. Didn't have to hit anything with the hammer! (remember that video?)

I'll post a pic later because I'm still concerned about the location of the dish.

Well, time for a tinnie.............I'm as dry as a dead dingo's donger!!

Hi John,
Why do you not have the dish out to the edge of the wall on which it is mounted, I should think that if it were it would have a far better view of any sats. It seems to be very restricted where it is and a simple move to the edge of the wall should give you a far better look at the sky.

Very best regards Wez

Hi Kerrywex,

You're right! The problem is the location of the dish.

On the photo http://www.techwatch.co.uk/forums/at...achmentid=1046 you'll see that there is a handle hanging there in the background, that is to lower the canvas on a hot day (50ºC in direct sunlight). I'll have to see how much I can move the dish and still be able to reach that handle. Also, taking into account that Hispasat is quite low, do you think I should try moving the dish up the wall? Another possibility is a different dish, smaller but just as effective. I'm all ears.......

I think the dish you have is fine, it is just a matter of measuring your angles and making sure the dish has an unobstructed view of the satellite you want.

You can use the formula Tan(a)=Y/X, or ArcTan (Y/X)=a.

Where a =angle, Y=vertical distance, X= horizontal distance. Just make sure the bottom of the dish is not obstructed by the handrail, and the top not obstructed by the ceiling.

It's working........tee-hee

I moved the dish a little over to the left, see pic, which did the trick, and it's almost vertical!

I can now get BBC World, which was the objective, and the rest of the c**p.
I wonder what I could do to get something worthwhile to watch??

Cheers

Glad you finally got it sorted

On 30W there is Digital+ if you fancied subscribing to that since you are in Spain.
http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/dphispa.html

also TV Cabo is on there, but that is from Portugal.

You might even be able to get the MBC channels on 7W, if you swivelled your dish round a bit. They show films and stuff in English and its free to air.

Thanks for that Robbo.

7W? There's a building there, anyway, now that it's working I'm not going to touch it.

Cheers!!
