Talking Formula 1 to return to BBC for 2009 season

The BBC has secured the television rights to show Formula One in the UK from the 2009 season.

The five-year deal marks the return of the sport to BBC screens 12 years after ITV began broadcasting Grands Prix.

Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone said: "I am delighted to conclude this new deal with the BBC.

"It is an exciting time in Formula One and the BBC has some innovative new ideas to consolidate and expand our UK fan base." The deal covers all platforms and will see F1 broadcast on the BBC Sport website, as well as on TV and radio.

If the Beeb get it right, it could well boost HD sales. Let us just hope they get a good production team together.

The first batch of boxes will probably have been made the end of last year Bob - theres no way they could be turned round in a few weeks and get them shipped ready for distribution if they hadnt. Remember we are taking about tens of thousands not a couple of dozen

Yes I agree with the lead time for production, made in China, one trip container, distribution etc take a few months, so what was this EPG approval granted on Tuesday?, suppose the boxes will pick it up anyway,I agree at least a hundred thousand will have been ordered, where ever.
By the way these 20ft Containers are one way,as goods only come one way from China, many are sold off local to me, make great sheds, going rate £1,800 each delivered, only one owner. All the raw scrap etc travels to China
in the open,so to speak. Oh yes the 40ft containers are under £1K, too big, or cut to 25ft £1,400, they use the back of the 15ft cut up left over,to make
a rear sealed door. I was interested, but too much trouble with condensation as they are only steel lined, but too much trouble to rob for the average thief.

Hell on DS I would have been banned again for idle chit chat,as they call it,and of course DS is on Skys payrole for PUBLICITY.

Aparently there is a three phase role out! SD and HD boxes from Humax, PACE and Sagem have pulled out boxes will start from £50 for SD not sure of HD prices.

Now Bob, please no attacking DS - it only leads to bad feeling between forums.
