Usual quote it will commence in a few hours, some hope. Sky have the client by the balls, the box is free, as you dont pay for the box, trading standards dont want to know, as Sky will always say,our installer will supply another box. Also I have seen slime on remotes supposed to be new, trouble is I have a big dish,so all my neighbours think I am in the know, some think I am also into porn, which I am not, bigger the dish etc. I enjoy the banter, must say if an indie installs Sky(one in Wrexham, population 135,000) TE Roberts, you do get a new box at installation, fitter in next village, after that 2nd/3rd/4th refurbs by Skyvanman. Inde fitter tells me horror stories about skyvanman. Bob PS I do try to get as many FTA as pos,but end up fitting the dam thing as a favour, but if its anti Sky, so be it. The box might be 2nd hand, but the offer includes installation and a 12 month warranty, so it's a great deal especially if you're considering freesat (from Sky).
My understanding is that when you buy this, you get a code to quote to Sky on the phone, they then come and install it with no more to pay. If the packages had been lifted from a store, it may not come to light for some time.

the box will be 2/3/4 hand, Ok the warranty is 12 months for another 2/3/4 hand, I suppose its one way of getting rid of the boxes, as you say a great deal, well if the box was new perhaps, so Ok the money goes to skyvanman and a bit for admin, but I would not touch it, but then joe average wont have a clue,a lot around here pay Sky a sub for S4C/BBC/ITV never heard of FTA. I think Sky are getting desperate. I have just received a card from them offering me a free sky+ box and free installation providing I take out a basic £16 per month contract. The card is headed "We'd love to welcome you back with free Sky+. I was last with them 5 or 6 years back.
Now if that had been a free HD box. ![]() ![]() ![]()

LOL, I like this thread.
I have to agree with most everything that Bob says, but have to concede that Sky can produce a reasonable deal when they want to. They weren't interested in giving me a sausage when my 12m contract was up recently, so their churn figures can't be that bad. I said goodbye to both Sky TV and Sky broadband. You just have to play them at their own game. Like Jim, I'll have a free HD box when they become available ![]() Oh, and I have a tiny dish but a huge dong, so that theory is blown too! ![]()

Sky can produce a good deal if they want to, but I shall remain FTA for life, until I am offered a 40 inch Sony LCD complete with HD decoder free, & no subscription, do you think Sky will offer me this.
I would object to 2nd/3rd/4th refurbs, on the grounds these may have been used to watch porn on Sky, so are tainted, just thought that one up try it on your Skyvanman, when your dodgibox fails(as they all appear to),should get an interesting comment. take all this with a pinch of salt. Wrexham lost last night, end of an era no more football league in North Wales ![]() Bob |
