New Dm500S wont lock

Newbie......just flash my 500s with pli did a manual scan on 110 W ..SNR 92%,AGC96% and BER 0 ,but no lock or sync do i have a bad tuner

With those signal levels, your tuner looks ok. Are you sure you have the right transponder list installed for the sat you are after?

thanks i thought i could just do a scan on the transponder without all the parameters where do i get the channel list i did a search,where do i find nero list. I am new to this stuff are you saying i need the list because the unit cannot scan like my old satcruiser. I am also hook up to my router when i tried to dl addon from the net i get server down.I must also tell you that i have reflash with DSN remastered.

Sorry but I dont know of a DSN remastered image. Do you have a 500s or a 500s plus box and is that image a backup DS image prepared by someone.

For transponder lists, download the captains or Likra settings or similar for your location.

Your problem with router connection is probably because the image has changed the connections settings. Use setup>expert setup>connections and make sure that the IPs are all correct and that file sharing is selected. Disable HDCP to allow you to change IPs

I have a DM500s the problem i stated occured with the pli image the image that came with the box and now with DSM remastered.High signal strenght but no lock . The dsm image came with north america list ,all the satellite are north america. Where can i find geno's list googled without luck

Hi mate,
Please go and find the latest settings file for the box, I like using the Captian's Settings one. You will need to use dreambox Edit to load it to the box, by FTP. When it has loaded you need to click on the reload dreambox settings button, on the top right of the screen, or you can reboot the box, but the button is the handiest, it might take some time, so don't be too quick to think that it is not working it does take a while.

Whilst I really like that image, the Pli one, I find it a bit of a pig when it comes to installing EMUs manually, so I hardly ever use it. I would suggest that you get the latest Gemini image and flash it to your box, using Dream Up and be sure to erase the old image before you flash the box.

When you have flashed to new image to the box you will be given choices in the set up, which satellites you would like and what motor setup you would like to use and what timezone you would like to have in the box. Just follow the on screen prompts and you'll be grand. You need to use a null modem cable to flash the box as it is by far the surest way to get it done properly.

You will then need to go and get a settings file for your box, I would suggest that you use the Capitian's settings for this, that will put all the satellite you will need for Europe, you will need Dreambox Edit for this.

Then push the menu button on your remote, go to setup, service searching, motor setup and tick the box that says Use gotoXX Function and enter your exact latitude and longitude into the boxes and push the green button to save them. That is all you need to do, because all the satellites and channels will be in the box, from the settings file that you loaded with Dreambox Edit. Just exit from all the menus and get back to the screen, now hit the OK button, followed by the Blue button and you will have a list of all the bouquets that the settings file has loaded on to your box. Just go where you want then.

You will need to have loaded a couple of EMUs, I woyuld suggest that you use Cccam and Mgcam, and the uptodate keys amd away you go.

I am assuming that you will have set up your communications to alow you to download all this stuff from the net, but that is a whoe new story.

Hey thanks ,i did not mention my location USA. So i guest the list you mention will not work for me.I will try Geno's list all the satellites are in north america .

Yes you obviously need the lists for your local satellite. I did make the assumption that you have a motorised dish. If you are only after one satellite then you just need the transponder list for that satellite.

The file that you need is satellites.xml which goes into /var/etc.

if you get a satellites.xml and dcc it to /Var/ect. will you be able to scan for my sattelite to recieve the channelos that i lost when they change. i also live in the U.S. and want 110 and 119. which i loaded a older channel list but it does not recieve all the channels because they have changed them.

The file satellites.xml is used by the scan programme. It lists all the transponder info and if any are missing or wrong, then all the associated channels will be missed.

You can edit a satellites.xml file by going into the Dreambox transponder edit programme and add/delete transponders. If there are a large number of changes then it is easier to just install an up to date satellites.xml file.
