hi, thinking of getting a dreambox for my motorhome, at the moment I have a sky pace box and a 63cm dish, I travel within europe a lot, and have the following questions
would a dreambox allow me to pick up more english signels from more then just astra 2 which dies mid france
Do i need to get a sky card, if so which one, i AM ONLY INTERESTED in free to view.
can I download films from my PC into the dreambox hard drive,
thanks. michael

Astra 2 doesnt NOT die mid France - some of the footprints do peter out but many of the channels are available over all of Europe. If you are using a digibox theres an easy trick to get around the problem of the digibox losing its epg in the south of france.,

Thanks for that, I have seen the site and the signel is very poor with the gear I have and all depends on the weather etc.
will the dreambox allow me to get more available satellites that carry english channels.
also can I do the other things I have asked.
thanks
michael

A dreambox is most definitely not advised for beginners to the hobby - they are high end enthusiasts receivers which can be a major pita to get to know how to drive properly.

And to be honest if you are having problems with your existing kit its far more likely to be dish alignment problems, and having a DB isnt going to solve that for you.

You also have the problem that keys for non sky pay channels change regularly so it may well work when you leave home, but by the time you get to france the keys have changed and all of a sudden its not working. Unless you can find a way to connect to the internet you cant update until you get back again... (Laptop via mobile phone may possibly work but you would need to try before you went away)

To be honest you would probably be better off investing in an 80 cm dish and maybe a sky digibox known to have a more sensitive tuner - some are better than others.
