Yep, sounds like you have not got all the transponders in the box, you may have to manually add them. There are far more than a couple of hundred channels on 28E.

Actually, I think you are the 2nd person to have that problem (or very similar) on that receiver.

I have all the transponders that i can tell, just when it comes to scanning some it doesn't seem to pick up any signal from them.

I have tried manual scan on the BBC HD transponder, can't remember the code.

Would being a few deg. off from the satellite make any difference?

Antenna 3dB beamwidths (degrees)
Size(m) --Beamwidth
1.5--------1.2
1----------1.79
0.9--------1.99
0.8--------2.24
0.7--------2.56
0.6--------2.99
0.5--------3.59
0.4--------4.49

It depends what you mean by a few degrees, and the dish size. Unless you have a Sky minidish, normally you want to get it within a degree of the centre of the beam.
If you are missing a particular transponder that you should be getting, the easiest way to get it is to set that transponder in the receiver and then adjust until it appears, then tweak for max.

You need to check the transponders in your list, one by one , with the ones on Lyngsat.

I have a Fortec Star 65cm dish.

Yeah, i'll give that a go with the transponder search. It just seems to be the BBC transponders though, a few BBC channels on different transponders.

Not sure if it will help or not Rams, but have you considered that your frequencies might well be wrong, I know that BBC News24 have moved to a different transponder and to get it I had to input the frequency, Symbol rate and FEC manually, they were not in my satellites XML.

Hope you have it sorted soon mate. As for being of a few degree, most of the BBC channels are on Astra2D, which has a very small foot print so a few degrees might well make them more difficult to get, but most of the ITV channels are on it too and you don't mention them being hard to get.

Very best regards Wez

I only have some ITV channels when looking on the channel list, some of the regions.

It starts off with the ITV 2+1 channel, then ITV1 Central SW, Anglia S, Anglia W, TT N and TT S.

I guess i'm going to have to play around with the dish again.

Can anyone recommend a decent meter at a low price that'll help, i have one but it doesn't seem very good.

Hi,
This post may be of interest if you have a Maplin LNB, he had a similar problem with not getting all the channels:-

New here - need help please!!

If you have check all thetransponders are there, and the dish is right, then maybe the LNB is faulty. If so, probably best to get a replacement eleswhere and claim a refund from Maplin.

Is there a specific transponder that is the hardest to get, the weakest, etc

Should i then use that to tune the rest of the transponders, ie tune the weakest, the rest should be stronger...

Would there also be a specific LNB i would need to replace it?

Well, they are all pretty strong, the whole lot can be got on a minidish in the UK.

What transponders can't you get a signal on? These are the ones you need to check out.

Any LNB other than one from Maplin sounds like a good idea.

The Inverto Silvertech 0.2dB, seems to perform well for me, the Smart Titanium is alright as well.

Well i really want to get BBC HD, and that transponder has no signal or quality, so I'll give that one a play around with sometime.

I read somewhere though, where people have set it to a certain channel on a specific transponder as it is hard to receive, which makes it easier to setup.

The LNB from Maplin is also a Fortec Star LNB, but i don't really have any choice of going anywhere else to get one. Maplin is the only place in Derby that does this sort of thing i think, and i don't have eBay.
