I read somewhere though, where people have set it to a certain channel on a specific transponder as it is hard to receive, which makes it easier to setup.

The LNB from Maplin is also a Fortec Star LNB, but i don't really have any choice of going anywhere else to get one. Maplin is the only place in Derby that does this sort of thing i think, and i don't have eBay.
How about here for example, (only if the LNB is faulty of course)

LNB - Digicom E-Shop

Yes for the weaker satellites, one often uses the strongest transponder to find the satellite in the first place. But once you have found it, you can try and tweak it to find the weaker transponders.

Thanks for the links Robbo.

I'm going to have another play around sometime, probably the weekend.

Does anyone know if there is a way of identifying the satellite on the Fortec Star Passion. I may be doing something wrong but on this receiver you need to select the satellite yourself in the settings then hope you hit that same satellite when manually moving the dish.

If I could somehow find a satellite using my sat finder (quite easy) and being able to identify that sateliite it would make finding a specific satellite, like Thor, easier!

When I move the dish around and finding a satellite I haven't got a clue which satellite it is!

I've not setup a Motor on my Fortec Star Passion HD just yet, hoping to do it soon.

But to find Astra 28.2, assuming you have the same Fortec receiver, i did these steps.

- Press Menu/Exit on remote
- Select 'Advanced Scan'
- Make sure 'Astra 2A' is selected in the first tab
- Next tab 'TP Frequency' i used the first TP there was, 10714 H 22000
- Then using the 'S' (Signal) and 'Q' (Quality) at the bottom, moved the dish around until they were at its highest.

I then knew i was on the correct Satellite, Astra 28.2, and managed to recieve all channels.
