Default Which satellite am should I aim this thing at?

I have acquired a Free-to-Air satellite kit. It was £35, so I thought it was worth the risk. I'm not completely clueless, but never used any satellite stuff before.

According to the manual, the reciever is "pre-programmed" for:
  • Astra1
  • Hotbird
  • Turksat
  • Sirius2
  • Amos
  • EutelSatW3A 7E
  • AtlanticBird3 5W
  • HispaSat 30W
  • HellasSat 39E
I'm in the UK, in the West Midlands.

What I need to know, is which one should I choose to get the best selection of channels?

Ideally I want as many in English as possible, but I have terrestrial freeview set up already, so I don't mind not getting the freeview channels. I'm not bothered about sport channels. What would be good is if I could get Danish TV (long story.), preferably the TV 2 and DR channels.

It would be great if anybody could point me in the right direction (sorry), thanks in advance!

If its free to air your not going to get a fat lot to be honest. If you let us know exactly what receiver it is we might be able to let you know what could possibly be opened if there are patches available for that receiver

Your best just leaving it at 28.2e on Astra 2 as thats where most of the FTA english stuff is

With the likes of DR1 & DR2 as far as i am aware they are both encrypted on Thor @1w and Sirius @ 5e in either Conax or NDS which are both secure, although if you can get a card they are a fairly easy catch on an 80cm dish

I can get both 5e & most of the stuff of 1w on my two dishes (80cm & 90cm) in the Midlands

As Astra 2 (28E) is not programmed into your receiver, you will need to add it, and all the transponders for it. A list of them can be found here:-

Eurobird 1 & Astra 2A/2B/2C/2D at 28.2°E - LyngSat

Also to get your dish pointed the right way, this site will help:-
