Default Eurovox Newbie question - No Transponder

Hi Everybody,

I have recently become the proud owner of a Eurovox Max V, but I can't get the thing to find any channels. I have been following some instructions I found online but I have had no luck so far. Here is what I have been doing...

1. Return the unit to the factory default settings.

2. Restart the unit and do a full powerscan. When the unit is running the scan it shows two bars on the top right hand side of the TV screen. These are labelled SIgnal and Quality. These bars move about between 8% and 21% as the unit is scanning and will some times jump to to 98% for a second or two.

3. Once the powerscan is done, I try the Auto channel finder and the unit displays a 'Transponder not found' message.

I have tried scanning on both 6952 and 6887 but with the same result. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Regards,

Lightman

use 6.952 and start the power scan from 275mhz instead of 100. make sure there are no splitters in the feed. use the direct cable coming into your house. let us know how you go.

make sure you have the incoming cable in the correct place at the rear of the unit (RFIN top left if looking at rear of unit) 6952 for former telewest or an ex c&w area and 6887 for former ntl area.

Hi Everybody,

I have removed the splitter from the cable, done a factory reset and powerscanned at both 6952 and 6887. This time the 'Level' and 'Quality' bars remain at a steady 8% as the unit scans and every few seconds they jump to 98% for a few seconds. The unit still does not find anything and when I try to search for channels I still get a 'No Transponder' error message. I have checked all the basic stuff, that my cable connections are secure and I am sure I am plugging in the cable into the correct socket on the unit.

I am stumped now guys, anyone have any suggestions?

Regards,

Lightman.

is the cable feed going into the RF port in the back? sounds like it may be in the wrong place. Worth checking

Hi Everybody,

I am putting the cable into the socket labelled RF-IN on in the back of the unit. As you look at the unit from the back, it's in the top left hand corner just above a socket labelled 'loop'.

I know that is has been a long time since the cable was last used. After some internet searching, I am pretty sure I am getting the setup right now. So there may well be no signal from the cable. Is there a sure way of checking this?

Regards,

Lightman
