Had one of these since December and I am chuffed to bits with the whole thing. The wife particularly likes the channel display on the receiver window itself
![]() Anyway, a few questions ~ been threatening to get hold of a CAM for it for a while now, but keep putting it off, mainly due to a lack of knowledge on the damn things. 1) Which CAM's work well in this receiver? 2) If I got a programmed CAM would I still need to buy/insert a card to view channels? 3) Are there any patches available to transfer via the USB for this receiver yet? 4) Away from CAM's ~ a question for someone else ~ are there any Disney channels out there which broadcast in English? Thanks! Mike |

Also, how the eff do you update the software in these bloody receivers?
I've tried downloading the software direct from F.Star website but when unzipped my PC doesn't recognise the files. I transferred the files to my portable USB external HDD and tried to transfer to the USB port on the F.Star Passion. I kept getting a failure message. F. Star themselves don't answer my bloody emails either!!!!! My system keeps freezing and then reboots itself which I think could be down to the software requiring updating? Ta! |

Try _http://laurals.net/ it has a section dedicated to the Fortec Passion with lots of how to's ,tips and tricks, and software ect.
The site suffers a few harmless pop ups and you have to wait for the front page to load (then click skip intro) but there is loads of useful information regarding this receiver. |

The Diablo Cam is reported to work OK with this receiver, although you would also need a programmer (Cas3 for example) and the latest Stealth file.

Had to do a full factory reset last night as the damn receiver locked up.
It seems to do it when you accidentally go onto a scrambled channel. When you try to go back to the channel you were watching, the signal is there in the display but no picture or sound. Damn annoying because I was up until 1am re-scanning all the sats I had stored and redoing all my favourite lists!!!! Some channels didn't get picked up this time either like BBC3, BBC4, CBBC, CBeebies, Pop, Tiny Pop (+1), Film 4, Nuts TV etc, etc so will have to do another scan tonight. |

Yes, the transponder frequencies for the pop channels changed some time back, your default transponder list may be out of date. The factory rest may have put it back to default.

Check lyngsat for the required transponders,
and check you transponder list. If you have not got them in your transponder list, you will need to add them. Try the laurals link that redoxide posted for more info on how to do it. |

Hopefully the next software update from Fortec Star will fix it. Sometimes if I'm deleting channels which I don't want/watch the receiver reboots for no reason. And on occasion (not every time) I press the USB button on the remote it reboots too.... Strange!!! Hasn't done that for a while though, but a pain when you are wanting to listen to some MP3 through the USB and it reboots. Apart from that.... a good receiver with stunning picture quality ![]() |
