Exclamation Arm bent on polar mount

Hi lads,
I was wondering what the hell was going on with my 1.2CM, the signal had dropped on every bird, not that much to stop the channels clearing. I went out today to see if I could figure what was happening and I was really shocked at what I discovered.

The arm that the actuator attaches to on the polar mount was bent up at an angle of about 45 degrees. I can't believe that the wind has done that to it, but that is the only reason it has ended the way it is. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this, the piece of metal I am referring to is about 1/4 inch thick and it is just bent like it was a piece of lead. For those of you who know the CM polar mount it bent at the inner hole for the actuator to attach to, I have my actuator attached to the outer hole.

Very best regards Wez

No not the pigeons, I live out in the wilds here, only got a few pigeons, the French and Germans came and shot huge bags of them, now they are very scarse.

thats surprising to hear the wind has bent the motor arm or could it have been someone trying to steal it ?

you able to take a pic of it ?

was the actuator on the mount a heavy duty one or one of those thin ones ?

Hi Wod,
I had a better look today, between the heavy hail showers, and the arm is laso bent, very slightly, where it attaches to the actual polar mount, that is where the two bolts hold the arm to the polar mount. I shall take a pic tomorrow and post it here.

I am not that worried about it, because my landlord has a metalwork shop and it is right beside me, I shall get him to straighten the arm and if needed he would make a new one for me, but I am getting a big dish, not sure what make, but it is at least 1.8Mtrs and I have a 36" heavy duty super jack for it, just a matter of waiting for the weather to take up.

Very best regards Wez

Getting it for nothing from a friend in the trade, it is his own, but he does not use it now, he had it for the old D2 Max and has not used it for ages. I reckon that it would be very impolite to refuse it and I would never look a gift horse in the mouth. when I get it and get it sorted I shall be posting how it went and what the ruselts are.

Very best regards Wez

Good pics, its hard to believe metal that thick would bend ! although its right by the hole the weakest point. when you have it straightened get the bar reinforced, maybe with a lengh of angleiron welded to the top.
