Default Eurovox Max V Channel help

Hi guys, I've been browsing the forum for a week now and found some really useful information, however, I'm having a slight problem that's driving me mad!

I've got loads of channels that work where I get an 80%ish signal.

I've got some channels that have an 8% signal and also work fine.

The problem comes with the others:

I get some channels that seem to fluctuate in signal strength between 0 and 8 % and because of this get broken up channels and a 'No Signal' message alternately. I've tried adjusting the frequency by .5 etc to no avail.

I also have some channels that don't appear at all (including in the TVCH***). The strange thing here (and this is the only channel I've noticed missing) is I receive Setanta Sports 2, but not Setanta Sports 1 and I believe that these two channels should be on the same frequency.

It just so happens that the channels I can't get are the ones that I use the most!! Typical Eh?

I think I might need to use a booster, but can't understand why some of them are 80% and others I get nothing! If I do need a booster, what kind would I need and could anyone recommend one to me?

Thanks for taking the time to read this and if you can be of any help at all it would be very much appreciated.

Cheers
BD

Hi, sorry i am not able to help but i am posting because i have a very similar problem and have just started a thread about it.

I have a number of channels that show no signal or a very bad picture. All of these channels are under the frequency level of 300MHz. The difference with my box to yours is that i get very low signal strength on every channel (0-30MHz)but some work fine and others not.

I would also be keen to hear if a signal booster would be of use?

Lots of members have benefited by buying a signal booster and apart from Ebay the best place to get one is here Argos - www.argos.co.uk

Signal strength can be affected by lots of things including the araea in which you live and local conditions at any given time, unfortunately you wont know if a booster will help until you either borrow or buy one...I think its worth giving one a try ....

Hi, thanks for the responses.

Can anyone recommend a signal booster? I've looked on Ebay and there seems to be quite a number of different boosters. I don't want to waste money by buying the wrong one!

Would and inline satellite one do? Or will I need an aerial amplifier that plugs into the mains?

Cheers

hi, i started a thread similar to this one at the same time to you and i bought a signal booster today. Set it up tonight and my signal strength has went from around 0-30% up to 70- 80% on every channel. I have had no picture break up since and now have all channels.

The booster i bought was from argos and is a 'one for all' signal amplifier costing £14.99. Money well spent!

Just to update anyone who was following the thread, the signal booster had little effect on my problem. The signals of 80% increased slightly but the 8% strength channels show no improvement and the all important missing channel is still not there.

Since the booster has not shown any improvement it may be you need to try an attenuator, this has been known to work on many occasions like yours, everyones channel strength is different for different reasons....it depends on how far you want to go with this, but its certainly worth a try, there are lots available especially on Ebay where the prices are a lot cheaper than High St shops....if you decide to go this way go for a variable attenuator you have precise control with one of those...

Even people who do not get signal problems very much, occasionally get the odd spitting etc on certain channels and with the variable attenuator its like having an extra tuning control makes for happier viewing, less stress etc... so many available on Ebay from as little as £5 or even less...
