hi, first post, so please be patient!
I have the Nokia D-Box, flashed with the Pacino Image. Anyway, whilst bored today i entered into the Features menu > Commanders List. Once in the Commanders List there were a load of file names and Directories. Anyway to be blunt, I changed a file name which was originally named 'var', and changed it to 'var1'. (basically because once in the 'change file name' feature, it was making me change it to get out of the feature). anyway, once id done this i couldnt get out of the Commanders List so i unplugged the D-Box. When i tried turning it back on it now just says 'Loading Kernel', and never actually reboots. Could someone please advise how i can access the D-box and then rename the 'var1' file back to 'var'? or could you advise of any other / alternative ways to fix this please? I have D-Box next to my laptop ready! (pleaSe advise on how i connect to the d-box too!) thaks in advance, Anthony

hi, thanks for the response. Ive jsut been looking into the guides found in the d/l section. Is it jsut a case of getting a rj45 crossover patch lead and connecting the d-box to the pc? do i need to access the d-box through a program to change the file? thanks |

As you're stuck at loading kernel, it's extremely unlikely that you will be able to FTP into the box. You will need IFA to re-flash the box.

thanks for your help. Ive got myself a crossover cable and d/l'd IFA. Now i need to work out whether the d-box uses 1x or 2x processors / chips. Ive read that you look through the grill to see, but im not sure what im looking for. The d-box is a Nokia. I can see two black square-shaped devices through the grill that have the words "C-Cube Microsystems".. Are these the chips? .
